Indonesia Oceans for Prosperity Program (LAUTRA)
LAUTRA is a strategic partnership program between the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries and the World Bank to strengthen Indonesia's blue economy transformation through sustainable, inclusive, and climate-resilient marine resource management.
The program supports enhancing the management effectiveness of marine protected areas and coastal ecosystems through the strengthening of facilities and infrastructure across Technical Implementation Units (UPT) of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, as well as the development of village public infrastructure aligned with the carrying capacity of conservation areas.
Through LAUTRA, marine ecosystem conservation is paired with local economic development. The program unlocks business opportunities and builds community and MSME capacity across fisheries, marine tourism, and sustainable aquaculture. With this approach, LAUTRA aims to bolster coastal resilience while fostering equitable economic benefits for communities in LAUTRA marine protected areas.
